1. Design

One can say that Marshall Acton II vs Marshall Stanmore II vs Marshall Woburn II have no contest in the design’s field because they’re equally beautiful and that will be the truth. But still, there are some things you have to consider like their dimensions and weights. As you would have caught from the comparison chart, there are actually different-sized speakers. Acton II is the smallest and lightest one – there are also some portable speakers in the industry which have almost identical size and weight, like JBL Boombox. Acton II isn’t that big compared to its bigger brothers.

Woburn II is incredibly big in size. It’s almost 4 times bigger than Acton II, so considering what you really want and what you really expect from your Bluetooth speaker, you might want to think twice before you will choose one of these speakers. Stanmore II is in the middle – it’s not the biggest and it’s not the smallest and it’s quite an optimal choice – that would be the perfect choice for the ones who want a somewhat big speaker, but not enormous one, like Woburn. You might want also to take notes about the sizes of the speakers, as they will be related to the cost section.

Don’t be scared. That’s the only big difference between these three speakers in the design’s field. They actually have a lot of things in common. They come in three colors: Black, White and Brown. These designs are one of the most beautiful visuals you will meet today on the market. Iconic Marshall Logo and Woven Grille are still on the front of all speakers and that’s something Marshall will probably never change in the future. These speakers just make your environment more marvelous and beautiful and don’t be surprised when you get lots of compliments from your friends and family members because of the speaker’s look.

Buttons & Durability

Well, logo and grille woven aren’t the only iconic things that characterize Marshall Speakers. They all have three knobs on the top – Volume, Bass & Treble which you can customize to the ‘exact sound you desire’. There are red LED lights which indicate if any of the functions (including knobs) are turned on. On the left, you’ll meet AUX Jack and ‘Source’ button which is the same as a pairing button. Between them, there are AUX and Bluetooth Lights and they’ll turn red whenever you connect them with or without wire, respectively. On the right corner, there are ‘Power’ and ‘Play/Pause’ buttons. They don’t require much of an explanation. Just use them whenever you’ll feel to turn the speaker on/off or pause and resume music. That’s a no-brainer.

It’s not like that any of these speakers can be damaged very easily, but you still have to be careful with them, anyway. New Marshall portable speakers like Stockwell II, Kilburn II and Tufton are IPX2 rated which means they can withstand some water splashes. Even on a rainy day, you have to avoid them from the weather and cover them with some clothes for their own security. Well, you won’t actually be out in the rain with Acton II or Stanmore II or Woburn II because they are big and after all, require the power source, but it would be very thoughtful of you if you don’t even place the water glass near them. So, in the matter of durability and security, these three aren’t in their best game.

2. Features

Just like we mentioned above, Acton II, Stanmore II and Woburn II require the power supply so we won’t be speaking of incredibly powerful battery life of any of these speakers. It’s a shame though – Marshall’s portable speakers have pretty awesome playtime abilities and they can brag with it anytime. But that’s not the case here.

Despite the power supply thing, they are still the Bluetooth speakers, so feel free to connect your device to the speakers wirelessly. They operate on Bluetooth 5.0 which allows you to connect the speakers at a range of 30ft. Nobody ever complains about not being able to hook up their devices to the speakers, neither will you. Apart from that, users can easily plug the AUX jack into the port located on the top left corner. But Stanmore II and Woburn II have even more to offer their users – they can be connected via RCA and they also have Qualcomm aptX support. This doesn’t make Acton II any less of a speaker – let’s support the smallest brother in this review.

Marshall Stanmore 2 กับ Acton 2

Let’s admit it – Marshall Acton II vs Marshall Stanmore II vs Marshall Woburn II – they all have pretty awesome features. All of them have the multi-host functionality feature which allows the speakers to be connected simultaneously to the two devices via Bluetooth. Marshall also provides the Marshall Bluetooth App which gives you the ability to customize your audio in addition to the control knobs. Tweak your EQ, change between them as you change your mood, make your listening experience even more fun, it’s all up to you. You can also order your speaker to go to sleep or wake it up with the app or change the intensity of LED lights on the top panel.

This review isn’t about Marshall’s Multi-Room speakers, but we’ll also highlight some of their features as well. Multi-Room basically adds 3 wireless connection abilities: Chromecast built-in, Spotify Connect and Apple AirPlay. You can use the Wi-Fi as well and connect to Google Assistant. So if those features are something you want to use, take the Multi-Room option into consideration.

3. Audio Performance

The most important thing regarding the speakers is Audio Performance. No matter how alluring and advanced-featured a speaker is, there’s no value in it unless it has stunning audio abilities. Well, lucky for you – these speakers come in full-package.

Having a big body actually has its benefits. Big speakers are big for a reason – they can produce big, loud sounds. Acton II, Stanmore II and Woburn II are incredible speakers which can make the party the loudest. And the best part is that you can adjust the Bass & Treble via the knobs and the app, as well. Just customize your sound and get full satisfaction from it. What else do you need?

Marshall Stanmore 2 กับ Acton 2

The lowest frequency for Acton II and Stanmore II is 50Hz, which is pretty low. But Woburn II impresses us even more – 30Hz? Come on. That’s something you can’t see every day. In fact, they all can go very low and produce enormous bass with excellent quality sound waves. Max Sound Pressure Levels for Acton II, Stanmore II and Woburn II are 98dB 101dB & 110dB, respectively. But let’s get to the full powers of the speakers: Total 60W for the Acton II and Total 80W for Stanmore II and Total 130W for Woburn II – isn’t it amazing? Those abilities are absolutely enough to make some huge party in a gigantic house.

Of course, Audio performance is a very significant component when it comes to the speakers. And in this matter, despite that each of them has pretty powerful audio performances, we have to admit that Woburn II is the strongest one, simply because it’s the loudest. All of them provide equally neat and crisp sounds. You’ll meet a little distortion at the highest volumes, but don’t be afraid – you won’t have to worry about it on the regular cases.

4. Marshall Acton II vs Marshall Stanmore II vs Marshall Woburn II: Verdict

We have reviewed these speakers in-detail and yet, we have to highlight why each of them can be desirable for the users and which one is the best speaker amongst them in overall comparison. But the thing we haven’t discussed is their costs. Are they really worth it – probably the first question you would ask yourself? Yes, they are. Considering what they provide, the cost is very much reasonable. You can look up for the alternatives and maybe you’ll find same audio performances, but never – design and visual.

Reasons to choose Marshall Acton II

Acton II is for the users who are intrigued with Marshall Speakers and simultaneously, want to spend fewer bucks on it. It still has got most of the features and same precious, brilliant iconic design. So, unless you want to ‘own’ even more powerful audio performance you can stay with Marshall Acton II and be happy about it.

Reasons to choose Marshall Stanmore II

Stanmore II fits best those users who are thoughtful and need to make an optimal decision. It’s smaller than Woburn II and also sounds louder than Acton II. Of course, the budget is also between Acton II and Woburn II. So, if you want to choose Stanmore II – that’s a great choice.

Reasons to choose Marshall Woburn II

The biggest, the loudest, the most powerful bass – we can continue all day. Just like we said – size does matter, it’s not like you’re using these speakers’ portability. If you don’t have a budget limit regarding your next speaker, just go with Woburn II. It’s the most expensive between these three speakers, but it’s totally worth to get Woburn II. No matter which of these speakers wins the overall comparison – Woburn II is still the strongest between these speakers.
