I saw this game almost 5 years ago and thought, This game's art and game play was insanely different. I didn't have money at the time so I couldn't pay for it, but now that it is free, with no ads and still has quality. Favorite game by far. I will definitely buy, Don't Starve 2 in a heartbeat. Love the challenge and the content is large, rough around the edges. Some crashes and errors, but rare. 9/10

Don't Starve is a great game, hands down. However, there are a few issues with this mobile port I hope can be worked out. For example, it feels as if some of the custom world settings don't save when you enter the world. The UI is also a bit clunky at times, with the joystick being static rather than floating and interacting with your hotbar being a chore.

Hands down one of the best survival games I've played. The Tim Burton themed art is fantastic, and the game is unrelenting when it comes to challenge. For those seeking a more casual experience there is even a more peaceful difficulty for you to choose, honestly i don't know how this title hasn't gotten more love than it has, because it clearly deserves it.

I found a solution: Open the saveindex file and change "online_mode=true" to "online_mode=false". The only drawback is that new characters will be created and items carried by previous characters will be lost. If you plan to do this, make sure all characters drop their stuff before changing the online mode.

In the oficial DST forum Developers give some hints about it : Official DST forum: How to convert offline world to online

The steps given by a user there are:

0) Go into your server and drop all your stuff to the ground. 1) Close DST. 2) Go to MyDocuments/Klei/DoNotStarveTogether/save. 3) Right click saveindex, open it with notepad. 4) Find your server among the table records (look at the name entries). 5) Under it, change online_mode from false to true.

Also, a developer says:

Important! If you do this, everyone may lose their character. It would be a good idea to run to the starting portal and drop all your stuff on the ground first, so you can pick it up again when you come back in after making the server online mode.

To avoid losing progress in some characters like wx with gear upgrades, or learned recipes, one possible solution can be to temporarily use the mod "Too many items", that lets you spawn any kind of game items. This way you can spawn recipes you had and items like gears to restore the character to its previous state: Too many items mod

It's for security. On an offline world, people can easily connect using a cracked version of Don't Starve Together through LAN. Online worlds check if you have a Klei account, a Steam account, and if whether you're already connected to the server or not

Close. Online worlds check you are who you say you are (using your steamid, PSN ID, Tencent Rail ID, etc, etc) while offline worlds just let you claim to be whomsoever you please, including people already in the game. It's fine if you're playing a friendly LAN game with your sister, but you wouldn't want to expose that to public play where you could be anonymously griefed by someone kicking you from your own server all day long and have absolutely nothing you could do about it.

-First, fully restart your computer or console - If you have a pending update for Don’t Starve Together in Steam, install it. Some users have also reported that connectivity was restored when restarting their router or modem.

-Ensure that your game has been updated to the latest version by verifying the integrity of your game files on Steam.

-Disable Mods It could be that one or more of the mods you have installed on Steam is causing an issue with your game.

*If you are sure that the issue is being caused by an outdated or broken mod, delete the mod files from your Steam folder for Don't Starve Together. Once all mod files have been deleted from your Steam folder for the game, unsubscribe all of your Don't Starve Together mods from the Steam Workshop. This will ensure that any mods that may have been causing issues delete the mod files from your Steam folder for Don't Starve Together.

R-unning Don't Starve Together in administrator mode can fix connection issues as well. To do that, right-click on the dontstarve_steam.exe (found in \Steam\SteamApps\Common\DontStarveTogether\bin) and choose "Run as Administrator."

-VPNs: If you are running a VPN service in the background, try temporarily disabling the VPN in case this is blocking the system from connecting to our servers.

-Connectivity may be blocked by your security software (Mcafee, Norton, AVG, Avast, etc). You can temporarily disable these services to see if it fixes the issue. If you wish to keep using these services you may need to add an exception for Don’t Starve Together. These services try to prevent rogue programs from communicating with outside servers, but often flag new software as rogue.

-Try resetting your router, and ensure that your router's firmware has been updated to the latest version. You will be able to find the firmware updates on the router manufacturer's website

-Try connecting to a wired internet if you are currently on Wi-Fi, can we get you to connect to the internet directly through an Ethernet cable instead. Wi-Fi connections can sometimes be inconsistent depending on the location and how strong the signal is.

-Windows also comes with a built-in Firewall. This service stops rogue programs from communicating with the outside world. This is usually a helpful feature, but occasionally it may block a program you want to have internet access on. You need to add an exception to your firewall to allow Don’t Starve Together to communicate with the outside world.
