Future GPX Cyber Formula is a 37-episode anime television series by Sunrise. It originally aired in Japan between March 15, 1991 and December 20, 1991. (Source: Wikipedia).

Naoki Shinjyo is the two time European F3 Champion who joins the 11th Cyber Grand Prix. Under Aoi Formula, Shinjyo drives the Superion GT and becomes a longtime rival to Hayato Kazami.

The Superion GT shares the same packaging as the other four Cyber Machines in MegaHouse's Cyber Formula Collection Vol. 1. A decal sheet is included for a more accurate anime representation of the machine as well as additional decals to customize the Superion GT.

The Superion GT is the only six wheeled Cyber Machine in volume 1, and the angular design gives the feeling of a classic 80s sports car. The decals add a lot to the Superion, not only providing markings but also the fine details of the front and rear lights.

There are molded details on the underside of the Superion as well as the rear engine bay. Unfortunately the small scale of the Cyber Machine means that the 'Peacock Wing' boost mode cannot be displayed. The boost mode, the spoiler should raise up, two wings flip out the sides of the Superion, and the black sections at the rear fold open to reveal two boosters. It would have been nice if MegaHouse included an optional part to swap to display this mode.

The Superion GT had no paint issues compared to the Asurada GSX and the only minor issue I had was with the large white decal on the hood of the Superion. The red paint started to show underneath, making it slightly pinkish. Next to the Asurada and Proto Jaguar, the Superion looks great and I'm glad to have another addition to the Cyber Formula roster.

I still think the CFC series is a bit expensive for what you are getting, but the power of nostalgia can be pretty overwhelming. If you are a fan of Cyber Formula or just a fan of Kawamori’s designs, I highly suggest picking up the Superion and any other Cyber Machines that may interest you. Volume 3 comes out next month so the first two volumes are starting to get a bit more difficult to find. I'm not sure how much longer the resurgence in Cyber Formula popularity will keep going but I can only hope that it will last long enough for MegaHouse to release Cyber Machines for all five series.
